Supposedly, if one sneaks bacon into almost any main dish, the vegan/vegetarian is very prone to switch their allegiance.
I find (but successfully) that it is quite hard to not use bacon in very many dishes. And I am the main cook here.

Nothing like a good ol' bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich in the summertime. Or any time, for that matter.

And bacon and scrambled egg sandwich. And bacon bits in the salad, Or on a baked potato. Or added on a turkey sandwich from Subway. And added to gumbo.

There are few things edible that can't be improved by adding bacon, onion, or chocolate.

I understand that original restrictions on pork was if it was not cooked enoughthat it could possibly contain parasites like round or tape worms. May lead to trichinosis or taeniasis. It may prove to be fatal. After it was found out to make sure pork was cooked sufficiently people went hog wild on it (pun intended). Certain cuts, particularly bacon can be described as having a "sweet taste". Thus one appeal of bacon. The original restrictions became law in some religious enties. (Another way for religious leaders to control their subjects).
