Back about 20 years my brother and a friend were shooting at the house. Dad loaded his second gen Colt 1851 Navy to shoot 5 rounds with the boys. They hung a new target, dad stepped up to the 25 yard line and shot 5 rounds fast, they all landed in a three leaf clover about 1" from the center. He did not say a word just went back in the house. The boys stop, picked up and went off to bother some one else. Dad said that was the best he ever shot that gun. He gave me that gun which gets shoot a lot. I can't shoot like him but sure like the gun. My brother didn't want any cap guns when we divided dad's guns.

That’s a nice memory. No need to shoot more after you show them how it’s done. I hope they weren’t actually shooting at the house. :)

Years ago I and my dad went to a local turkey shoot. My dad was going up against 5 or 6 guys with scoped bolt action rifles. Dad just had a old octagon barrel Winchester model 61 pump with open sights. (I have it now) I was about thirteen years old and mentioned they had scopes. Dad just said, "Well they still have to hold em". He stepped up and won the turkey! Dad was 6ft 5"s and put a hunk of wood on the stock for extra LOP. He put pads or whatever on all his long guns.
He always was a excellent shot with all guns including handguns and worked with me at it. Several times I actually seen him shoot flying blackbirds out of the air with that winchester!
