They were moving last evening

The weather forecast indicated a possibility of precipitation in the late evening/overnight so I decided to sit where I could overlook a wide area. Within minutes of getting into the deer house, I noticed a doe and fawn at the far end of the field and soon the little spike and fork buck I'd watched yesterday morning joined them. Right at dusk, they started moving out into the open field. In 15-20 minutes, I'd seen 4 small bucks, a medium size buck, and 10-12 does and fawns. I waited until they'd moved further away and exited. During the Ranger ride back to the house, I saw several more but too dark to sex/size the blurry shapes against the snow cover.
Son and I moved the 'executive suite' deer blind (office chair and built in heater) to a different location during our lunch break yesterday. Grouch Attack still has a landowner buck tag but hasn't been close enough for a shot so far. Moving the blind closer to the travel patterns in the snow may help.

I've enjoyed seeing deer daily in my area,, until Friday. Friday,, not a single deer seen. A front passed,, and I expected to see deer,, but nada.

I've got to find a slightly different spot this evening. A solid south wind is basically wrong for most of our stand locations. Maybe head for a place where a bunch of does have been skirting a hillside. It's a bit 'tight' range wise but very consistent travel.

it's our Blackpowder season , so I got done early Saturday and had time to get out to my blind , didn't see nothing ..

( GETTING OLD SUCKS ) darn knees and legs don't like walking in the snow very much so that evening i had several leg cramps to deal with , legs where still not feeling up to the task sunday morning so stayed home , yesterday afternoon felt more like getting out of the house , so headed out about 2 , I didn't want to go back to my blind , just felt like I wasn't seeing anything out of it so why bother, so I took a small folding chair with me along with my T/C Encore in 50 cal and my CVA 50 cal pistol, (in a shoulder holster ) plus a small fanny pack , god what a load

to get to my blind I have to go over to my neighbor and then go uphill across his yard to the woods road , maybe 200 yards of road thru the trees to the pasture where my blind is at , well there where deer tracks every where ,about halfway back I decide to just get up in the trees a little where i could see the edge of the pasture and the road and some in the woods . found a spot, cleaned the snow out from under foot and got sit down , pack on the ground , rifle agaisnt the tree , left pistol in the holster which ended up being a mistake , about an hour later saw a small deer coming down the road towards me , another one following , and then a 3rd and a 4th back aways , I wanted to try the pistol at a Doe so I reached around to unsnap the safety strap and with all the cloths I had on and the way I was sitting i could not get the darn thing to unsnap, well I knew if I kept messing around i would spook the deer so I just took up the T/C and let the first 2 go by waiting for the 3rd which was a bigger Doe , just before she got to me she sensed something wasn't right as she stepped off the road into the bush just alittle , she stood for a couple seconds then took a step forward which gave me a clean shot and I dropped her , she must have started to spin away because the shot took her back and at a angle that didn't match what it should have been if she had stayed standing still .

any ways she went maybe 10 feet downhill and that was it , so I got her field dressed and got my pickup back to a place i could drag her to and loaded up and by that time I was done in, made a call to my son and took her over to his place where we got her hung up and skinned
