The Silver Eagle................

In September 2004 I asked my pastor about a proposition I had in mind for youngsters. My proposition was this: Any child twelve years old and under, who would learn the Books of The Bible, all 66 of them, and recite them to me, I would award them a Silver Eagle.

The pastor readily agreed, and allowed time in the morning worship for a little presentation. This youngster was the most recent, and was the 130th recipient.



The very first recipient is a chef of some renown, and owns a restaurant in Dallas. One young girl has just arrived in Thailand with her husband as missionaries.

And God blessed me with being able to supply these over the years. I never was without a Silver Eagle when I needed one.

It would be interesting to hear what the other recipients are doing with their lives. I would bet good hard cash that none are incarcerated and a high percentage are truly fine outstanding citizens.

One young man (at one time!) is teaching school in Twin Falls, Idaho. Another is a high tension lineman working on high lines and power plants. And one is a pilot for American Airlines. One girl is now married and has a baby en route. I have tried to get information on many of them but some are so scattered. One young man is an Army veteran that I know of. At a recent funeral held at our church several came to me and renewed our acquaintence. Many had to tell me who they were! Former little kids now sported black beards and/or stood over six feet tall!
