Good pic Doc, as usual. This year seems to be a good year for roadrunners in my area. I have a 10 inch crockery water dish outside my window that I keep full for the rabbits and birds.
A few weeks ago, I actually saw three roadrunners at the same time around the dish. They didn't do any fighting but they did do some posturing. It was kind of neat to see.
But, just now I was sitting looking out the window and a roadrunner came up to the dish. A bee came flying up to him and he ducked down lowering his body down on his legs. When he stood up again another bee came flying by his head and he dodged it moving around to the other side of the dish.
He finally got his drink and ran off. But, I would have thought that he would have pecked that bee out of the air and ate him instead of acting afraid of it.
He was a full grown bird too. Doc, with you being a Vet, do you have any idea why a roadrunner would be scared of a bee? They sure aren't scared of scorpions. Maybe they just don't like flying insects?
