The other site changed hands a year or so ago and everyone had to re register I choose not to this in my opinion is a much nicer place.

I do post on the "other forum" as well as several others. But this is the one I always come back to. The "Lounge" being about my favorite web site.

I can only relate so many shooting episodes, and talk of loads and ammunition for so long. But there is always room for good conversation among shooters, "campfire conversation" if you will, long after all has been said and done about Rugers for the time being.

Y'all have told me you enjoyed my stories and told me so, and made this old man feel good. Coming here is like pulling up a log, pouring a hot cup of coffee and just enjoying the company of good friends.

May this site never perish.

As I perused my recent post here, I'm reminded of the writer's guide to publications from years back. For The American Rifleman prospective writers were advised to submit no "Me and Joe" stories.

One writer bucked that admonition and wrote several "Me and Joe" stories to the delight of many, many readers ~ Skeeter Skelton.

I read it. Some people were surprised there is another Ruger forum. Then a lot of bickering about the moderators on their web site being more tolerable or tolerant. First person said tolerable, another member says you mean tolerant. First guys says no, I meant tolerable. (Not a big difference in my opinion...) and I don't think the moderators are more agreeable over there at all. Another guy said he was banned from this website because he wasn't 18, he went on to belly ache about that.

All in all, I don't think the people over there have as much knowledge about Ruger's or firearms in general as they do here. It seems like they have more posers. Just my opinion.

There's a lot more love for the P series over there and some pretty good folks as well. I like both but log in here more often.

I've found that this forum just seems to have a better group of people. Posts that have nothing to do with guns are allowed and often stimulate good discussions. This forum is truly my go to, all purpose internet communication place.

I just thought it was interesting what they were saying about us here. The guy that was "banned" here had a total of three (3) posts. Must have been a real winner on the third one as the first two I read weren't that bad. I too go there, the other forum, on occasion. Their board is, to me, a bit more disorganized than this one but what do I know about setting one up?

On the issue of tolerance, this forum does not allow rough language. I am old fashion enough the believe that is a rule true gentleman will follow in any public place. Bad language is disrespectful to the ladies and not to be tolerated around children.

I do use the other forum a bit but mainly to read Iowegan's gunsmithing posts.

I bet that, where he still alive, Skeeter would be a member here. (His son Bart is on a gun writing forum.)

I know of whom you "speak". He's no choir boy, but has mellowed a bit with age and family. In early years, he ticked a lot of folks off on a few forums.

Strangely, his and my paths have crossed on a few forums.

Both this forum and the other see my shadow, pretty much every day. I don't draw comparisons because I don't see it as a competition. Both have their strengths.

Hi,

Add something I learned as a kid, that company not withstanding, bad language (at inappropriate times or places) shows a poor vocabulary or lack of education on how to use one actually possessed.

I originally went to the .net forum to have access to the Iowegan books. Back then it was free to anyone with 25 posts. I didn't have that many yet, and had been a member for longer than a year, when Iowegan went on a rant about how people came, did 25 posts, got the book, and disappeared. I left, and haven't been back. I no longer have a GP-100, so no longer want or need his book!

A friend from years ago (cancer got him since) had a saying on that.
Profanity is a "Feeble attempt, by a weak mind, to express itself strongly."

When in person, if you seldom use profanity, when you do,

tried to log on this past Saturday while this forum was down (was a member a couple of years ago) could not log in and now I know why.. so I started to just peruse the thread... what I noticed and maybe if you log in as a member this does not happen... is the pages are covered with those pop up adds... of mostly large breasted women. I then started to go to a Sig forum someone here suggested a while back, I am not a member and thought about applying for membership there and the same thing... adds all over the place. Do you still get the pop up adds on these forums if you are registered?
