Great show. So was Soul Train earlier in the day.
Haven’t heard that in a long time
I was 11 in '72 and MS was on my to watch list. Started listening to my older brothers rock albums about a year before then and MS showed me the light. Started going to concerts not long after that.
We had the Long Island Arena within 2 miles from home and many of the biggest bands of the 60- 70's played there. In fact some of the tunes on Frampton Comes Alive album were recorded there.
This episode was a bit on the mellower side and they pretty quickly amped up the rock level. Thanks for posting
Here's another MS performance with Humble Pie and speaking of Frampton, the young blonde haired kid on Les Paul lead is Peter before he went out on his own.
And I had a major crush on Linda Ronstadt back then, long since passed when I learned she was a super lib

Wow! I got taken back for sure, was 18 that year & a music lover. Still a music lover but the 18 thing is long gone. Even had a doggone shirt like Johns, 3 button cuffs, barreled sleeves & the long tab collar that would try to slap ya silly when riding a motorcycle.

We planned many a weekend around the TV Guide telling us what groups would be on Midnight Special, Don Kershiner's Rock Concert, and ABC's late-night In Concert. Either someone had a watching party or you made it home in time for the show to start.
