The future looks bright to me........

I started an award program in 2004, for children twelve and under, who could recite the Books of the Bible to me. Since that time, 122 children have received "The Silver Eagle Award." I have tried to keep up with them as much as possible, and noted that four of them were making their own way in life. Such as:

One is a pilot for American Airlines
One is teaching school in Twin Falls,Idaho
One is a prominent chef in Philadelphia, and author of two books
One is already a US Army veteran.

Many I have lost track of as they have moved away from Memphis. But my point is, that those who have earned this award have gone out and become responsible, upstanding, God worshiping citizens.

I like to think I made a little difference in their lives.

P.S. (Feb. 17) I just received a note on Facebook from a lady in Arizona telling me her daughter earned a Silver Eagle when she was nine years old. She graduates from high school this year.

It is a Silver Eagle. While it is a silver dollar, it is actually one ounce of silver bullion, 99.999% pure silver. The dealer from whom I buy the Eagles has a supply of 2004 mint coins. This the year I first started the program. When that runs out, I probably just use the current date minting. Unlike circulated coins, dates don't affect value.

Silver bullion, from other nations, is what I usually give my wife for gift giving occasions.
