Great shot! It was a long time ago that I was at Lackland AFB in those old WWII barracks... Butt we did get a weekend in ole San Antone... Almost walked by the darned thing! There it was right smack dab in the middle of everything. The historical significance took my breath away. Got a great tour with some very nice tourguides.

I had exactly the same experience. It's quite jarring the first time to see The Alamo right in the middle of downtown San Antonio, across the street from the department store Joske's. (Is that still there?) :shock:
 
Joske's has been gone for quite a few years now. Last time I was at River Center Mall, Dillards had a big store there.
 
Beautiful picture Doc. Just curious, what part of the Panhandle do you live in? I was born in Lefors and lived in Pampa and Amarillo till 1986 and the job brought me to San Antonio. Just haven't had the sense to move back. (YET)
