Been a fast passing summer. im back from the lodge and had the itch to ride my 1965 pan head. but first, I needed a new head light, put the original windshield back on. and last, and a way to long wait to have my original seat restored. I put some fresh gas in it and it fired right up! enjoy!!! and post your favorite bike photo....its summer time....FNC

Great looking Electraglide !!! Last year for the Panhead, fierst year for elictric start, a special year in H/D history.

I've had several, but this one kind of stands out for me. 1976 Bicentennial edition Super Glide.
Like the kicker on your bike. Had one like that on my 85. Picked it up after a service and they had “replaced “ it with ‘correct’ one, then couldn’t find popsicle one when I protested. Ha. That was 30 years ago and I’m still a little angry.

Nice bikes guys. Here's my '76 Superglide.
Well, ya got no horn, but at least ya got decent brakes. Cool Rat!

No front brake, a mechanical rear, no high beam, horn, or brake light. All that meant less switches & wires to give ya trouble. It would probably be scary now, but back in the day it was a fun ride. My birth year, 1953.

On the contrary, I have not only a horn but a bell as well.

For some reason she doesn't like electric horns. I tried 3 or 4 times, but they kept falling off. Actually, the bell is easier for folks to hear than the horn. High pitch cuts thru the exhaust rumble.

Brakes are OK when they work. I had to carry a large rubber mallet to whack the rear caliper when it locked up. That's why the banana caliper has the target in the middle. The leaking front master cylinder gasket is another joy.

She's down for a rebuild & will be getting newer brakes, I've got a rear caliper from a Soft-tail & lower legs from a later model Sportster with the newer small caliper.

Harley's first disc brakes leave something to be desired.

Great looking FXEF Cholo, seems I remember you restoring it. In 78-80 I wanted a fatbob Superglide so bad I could taste it. But just couldn't afford it at the time.. In 82 or so finances changed a bit & I found the 76 pictured above.

Have another panhead as well, bought 1961 pan in 1975. I was 16yo. my parents where....let's say not very happy. I rode it to high school when I was 17. the teacher's would come out and look at it...lol. I still own this bike, its parked in my hanger and has not moved in about 10 years. I know...but I just can't sell it. as for my parents? they got over it. lol. FNC

I thought I’d take this moment to recycle an old joke.
I told my younger wife that my FXSB was a unique model and, since she would likely remarry, I’d like her to donate it to the HD museum. I couldn’t stand the thought of some a**hole riding my bike. She asked “what makes you think I’ll marry another a**hole?”

Oh heck yeah, if ya can afford to, keep the chopper, I missed mine for years. Simply eye & ear candy if nothing else. I traded a CJ5 Jeep for mine & first wife left me,,,, for 3 days. Came home but that might have been the beginning of the end. I rode it, rebuilt it, bought the shovel & soon after & wife left for good. I could only afford one with new d-i-v-o-r-c-e. The shovel stayed.
MAN! what memories.

Good memory!

My friend and I refreshed it in '13, though it was't a restoration. The main components have never been opened up. We cleaned it up to where it looked better than brand new. I think I spent somewhere around 12 hours just polishing the wheels, spokes, and hubs--and this is with arthritis. I believe we changed only the clutch and gave it new brake pads.

The pic above was on its first ride in many years. I have other pics in my computer but can't seem to locate them right now.

My PHD mechanic gives me hell about knowing a guy why owns an original POS Shovelhead where every nut and bolt is original or NOS :ROFLMAO:

I really need to move it on; I have other bikes. 12,584.7 on the OD.

They quit making those Night Trains a few years back. They’re still plenty popular around here though.

me with my two other daily drivers. 2004 soft tail and my 2012 ultra. 103 6 speed. life is good ! note: Mt. Denali in the background!
I'd say you've got a great selection of styles, LIG.

The Night train got me thinking about my brother again this morning. He rode the wheels off his, but no more I guess, he lost it in a flash flood early Friday morning. Actually the only thing he had fully insured. Guess that says a lot about his priorities.:)

its funny you such a thing, a few years back my mom came up for a visit. its an 1.5 hour ride from Anchorage Airport to my house. along the way she asked if I still had that "old bike" I said the wifes gos, before the bike go,s....lol

Can't let this thread go to page 2 just yet.

The best H/D I've owned, not that most were great, this one might have been the best vehicle I've owned. 93 Heritage Softail Classic. Had it Dyno tuned, & I serviced it. Otherwise never touch it for a repair in 40,000 miles.

Wow! Wendy. Ya put a tear in my eye. That is one of many David Mann prints he did for Easy Riders magazine. This particular one called Ghost Rider, my fave. Have a big coffee mug with that on it.
Swore I was going to built a scooter very close to it, but a 4 year only motor a all before the net, not the easiest to find.

Thanks so much.

My gosh Hittman, that's a fine looking ride.

↑ Kinda off topic, but I have the original 60 or 80 Easyriders magazines. Yes, including issue #1 :)
Been clearing out shelves of American Handgunner & Guns. The AH going back 35 years. But when I got to stacks of Easyriders I locked up. Couldn't make myself dump those just yet.
Wanted to gift all of them but shipping cost way too restrictive IMO.
