I've never had a large collection, but certainly more guns than I "need". And not only am I not buying any new guns, I've decided to simplify my life, and my safe, and sell all but four handguns: two for concealed carry, one for home defense, and one 22 just for fun at the range. Part of my plan is because my wife is absolutely not a gun person, and none of my kids share my enjoyment of, and appreciation for firearms. If I died now I think my family would haul all of my guns to the nearest big gun store, like Gander mountain, and sell them for a fraction of what they are worth, so I will beat them to the punch and use the cash for other things while still keeping the ones that I need. And I guess I don't rule out changing my mind about buying new ones when something convinces me that some new gun is just too good not to own.
