I love your photography, you have inspired me when I am out at the zoo or arboretum or wherever, and I love that windmill.
But, I gotta say, I don't like this picture. First I thought it's ok, but then I looked at it for a couple minutes and the sunset isn't centered but the windmill is. I also don't like that building off to the left. I think perhaps 10 minutes earlier and it would have been brighter and the sky just a touch more blue, with more contrast to the clouds. Plus, a vertical orientation would have been better to go along with the tall windmill.
BUT, my first sentence stands, I do think of you and your photography as I'm out. You and Jeffnels (sp). We were at the arboretum the other day, and man, I couldn't get a good flower picture for the life of me.
Where exactly is that windmill anyway?
I had to go to my other place north of Abilene Kansas Saturday to see about a water leak. Took along some guns my buddies have been wanting to look at, and they each bought one. We went to one's brother in law south of Abilene to do the transfer of the handguns from my Oklahoma FFL to his FFL in Kansas. On the way there from the farm, skies were sunny and clear. When we left and pulled back out on the highway, the skies were brown and hazy, and visibility was down. The air was full of dirt, and the wind was howling, as it had been all day, but the dirt wasn't coming from our fields. We got an inch the night before, and windy as it was, they were still plenty moist with no sign of anything blowing off them. When we turned west on 18 highway 6 miles north of Abilene we went through a 3 or 4 mile wide swath of blowing dirt we could hardly see in, but as I said, it wasn't coming off our fields. First time I've ever seen dirt blow in from somewhere else and darken the sky. We no more than got back to the horse barn at chore time and heard there'd been a real bad wreck in the SW part of the state. Got so dusty visibility was lost on the highway they said. Sounds like it was coming from down your way.
