Taryn has been building shadow boxes of exploded view Single-Six models, and this is her next project. I recently picked up this pretty rough RSS9 for her. She has an "As Cast" frame that will take the place of the receiver pictured here. The plan is to take it down and have the barrel removed from the serialized frame and have everything soda blasted to take it down to bare metal for the display. The idea behind the swap out of the serialized receiver and the as cast is to avoid the requirement of an FFL when we finally sell it down the road. Everything is just lying on the glass to allow for a placement decision tonight. The last couple have had red felt for a background and she will most likely stick with that for this one as well.

That box is going to look GREAT when it's done.

I have something similiar for my DA displays to show people how easy it is to disassemble the Six Series and GP 100's. These are from early on. Later, I also included the disassembly instructions from the manuals (enlarged to make them easier to see).

But this outstanding shadow box by Taryn makes mine look "meh".

A nice display, Troy! I think the plunger for the loading gate latch got stuck in the frame. I don't see it anywhere. I usually have to tap the frame on a block of wood to get it out.

Amazing display! 😁

Will the "as cast" frame lack all the usual drilled/tapped holes we see in a finished frame? Not a criticixm, I think that would be neat. ;)

Will the metal parts be treated somehow to prevent rust?
