I find the questions about the accuracy of tang safety Model 77's reminding me that the only one's I ever had any accuracy issues with were all chambered in .308 Win (mostly RSI's).

This past Spring, I was lucky enough to be the only (low) bidder on a "no-reserve" 1975 Model 77R chambered in .250 Savage (.250-3000).

It had an inexpensive Tasco 3-9x scope mounted, which I promptly removed & sold off, replacing it with a Trijicon Accupoint Safari 1.75-4x32 IR (no battery) scope, that I had treated myself to, several years ago for Christmas.

This past week, I zeroed it @ 100yds, needing only 2 shots after boresighting, then cranked in another + inch of elevation before I shot a 3-shot group with the factory (Remington) 100gr JSP's I bought.

Distance: 100yds
Temp: 70-degrees F.
Wind: Light breeze @ 6:00
Time: late AM (11:00AM)
Ammo: Remington green box 100gr JSP

I held the rifle in only my hands, to replicate hunting conditions - with no part of the gun's wood/metal touching anything else besides my hands & shoulder.

It, for sure, made me a happy camper !
