Been lusting after a new stainless Blackhawk in .327 caliber ever since I first saw the picture in the Ruger catalog and found myself on gunsamerica for the last three days clutching my mouse and trying not to click Buy Now.

I've been reading posts on here about the gun, the ammo ( evidently hard to find ) and how this compares to...( fill in the blank ) but I want one. Certainly don't need one. But then again I didn't need the Marlin 1894c I bought two weeks ago. :?

I have a 4" GP100 and a 2.25" SP101 - both 357's - and a MkIII 22/45 with a 5.5" bull barrel that I got for fun shooting, now I think that to complete my range of experiences with short guns that a sexy looking single action would almost fill the bill.

It would be a fun gun, wouldn't it? Not just a senseless indulgence, or would it?

Get the gun YOU want, not the gun someone else says you should have.

We all have made mistakes, too! I've had a few different revolvers that just didn't do what I wanted or didn't feel right or wouldn't shoot right.

Buy the .357 and don't look back... :D

357 mild to wild if you reload.
45 stainless blackhawk, same mild to wild.
I would like to try a 327 blackie but don't want another caliber to reload.
You may as well give in cause once the lust takes over it's gonna happen just a matter of when. Buy a much bigger safe than you think you need now!!! :D

I agree that you should follow your heart. .327 ammo is available on line if you do not find it locally. And it is an easy caliber to reload and can reach velocities very near a .357 mag without the recoil. Buy it and enjoy!!

Athanasor Take slow deep breaths. In thru your nose and out through your mouth, that's it count to four on the way in and count four slowly on the way out. Yes that is it. Go to your special place........see how easy it is to forget.

Buy the .327. I have the 8 shot .327 Blackhawk, and after shooting it, went out and bought the .327 SP101. Ammunition is available, or if you want just reload. It is a fun gun!

Your subject Line "Talk me off the Ledge"

My experience around here, although limited, tells me this is the wrong group for help in that direction regarding the rest of your post.

Much more likely to get a firm shove! :)

But you won't have to jump alone around here either. Best Rugerholics Anonymous group anywhere.

327 BH on my list, just have not jumped myself cause of other Rugers distracting me, but I will have one in the near future.

If you want it, buy it. You can't rely on advice on something like that. Currently, my favorite gun is a cheap cap and ball revolver that my wife got for me for Valentine's Day a few years back (definitely the best Valentine's Day gift I've ever gotten), and speaking practically, it's almost useless. It's not made as well as my other guns, I'm not willing to hunt with it, would never dream of defending myself or my family with it, it's long, it's a mess to clean, I was having a lot of difficulty finding round balls and caps for it for a while, but it sure is fun to shoot.

Get what you like and shoot what you like. When someone asks why we buy guns, the immediate response should be "because I want it." Seriously, do we need any other reason?

I am looking for one in blue. I think it's another one I will have to chop off the barrel on down to 4 5/8" like I like mine. It would be a fun gun I think. I was in the same place as you a while back wanting one but I just bought several others and kind of put this one on the back burner for a while. I will run across one before long and it will follow me home like the rest do. I have a pile of rugers now and enjoy them so another one isn't as important as it once was now I can wait till I find one at my price without ordering a new one.

I bought the first one I could get my hands on when they first came out and have NO regrets. I waited on the GP100 in 327 until I found one at the right price, and the same with the SP101 in 327. The 8 shot stainless Blackhawk is the cat's petootie and I love it.

If you can lay your hands on one and you like 32 cal stuff, buy it.

Just my opinion...............

I picked up the 327 in GP100 knowing ammo would be hard to get. That was 2 months ago and it's been out with me the last two times I've been to the range. It's a lot of fun with some snap to it but very little recoil. Ammo is a little better and I reload so the fun is just waiting to happen. I heard from Starline and they do have plans to manufacture brass just don't know when at this time. Get it and enjoy it. I've thought about the Blackhawk but so far haven't fallen or been pushed off the ledge!

Hey guys, I don't care what you say,I am not buying a 327. I am not loading another caliber.
Please stop bragging on the 327,you are making my resolve weaker and weaker!!! :D

I bought a SP101 in 327 when it first came out, a CZ rifle in a 204 and really like the 41 cal. All of these calibers have numerous critics that report that they are unnecessary, but they are some of my favorites.

Ok,, I handled one when they were introduced. I looked it over real hard. I thought long & hard about "what will it do that my other 32 H&R mags, my 357's won't do???"
Well I got one,, and I'll tell you what it does that those others do just as well,,,, it makes me SMILE a lot when I take it out & play with it. Like when I load it up around a few friends,, and they don't realize I have an 8 shot SA revolver,,,,! Or when I decide to go work around my property,, and I decide to smoke an old can,, or what ever,,, I smile. The one copperhead snake,, and the one groundhog I've taken with it were excellent easy kills.
I've bought a little factory ammo,, and a lot of reloadable brass. Freedom Arms has primed brass often,, and it's well worth it.
My advice??? Buy it,, and enjoy it. If by chance you decide you don't like it,, (doubtful) then someone else will want it.

You are a poor therapist!!
Enabler! :D

Talk you off of the ledge. Well, ok, try this. There's a Stainless New Model Blackhawk .357/9mm convertible, with 6-1/2" barrel in the classified section as we speak. Buy that, then you won't have money to buy the .327, and I will no longer have to fret about the homeless .357.

How's that? :)

Hugh: Hey thanks, talk about enablers. But this was a good distraction as I was hovering over the buy it now button on AuctionArms as the clock ticked off the last 15 minutes for a NIB Blackhawk for $511 and free shipping. By dint of steel will ( and the fact that there's the same gun on GunBroker for about the same price ending in 3 days ) I am still Blackhawk free.

The convertible would have to be an investment gun for me, remember I was looking for a fun gun - which is to say one I could shoot comfortably for a longer session at the range than a 357.

BTW Great sailing weather down here today.

And let's not forget great accuracy! From my experiences, the .327 is a pretty flat shooting bullet. Fast enough to hit what you're aiming for anyhow.

Plus, I don't remember any threads where people have had issues with the .327 Blackhawk either in poor accuracy or mechanical problems out of the box.
