Trying to decide how to spend my tax refund. Been lusting safter a synthetic stocked 416 guide gun since I first saw one. No longer listed on Rugers website? Did I wait too long? The laminated stock model is listed still and that would work but I'd prefer the synthetic. Are they gone for good?

There was a short synthetic stainless 416, my nomenclature might be wrong. I've slept since i Iast saw one?

Ruger produced a synthetic/stainless called The Alaskan for a few years - that's probably what you're thinking of. The Guide Gun with the green laminate stock is the closest thing to it now and it's available in .416 Ruger.

That's the one , out o production? Damn, have to start looking for a guide gun i guess. Thanks!

You're welcome. A search on GB turned up a couple of used ones in 375 Ruger but none in 416 at the moment.

Guns International has a Ruger M77 Alaskan stainless 416 Ruger, RCBS reloading dies and 40rds. of brass for $750.00 plus $25.00 shipping. But you would be happy with the Guide Gun too. I have one in the 375 Ruger and I am real happy with it.

Trouble... if you find one and want a black factory Hogue stock, get ahold of me and we'll work something out. I bought this green one for my Alaskan after I had Robar blacken the stainless, so I don't need the original black stock.

Good Luck in your search!

Oh that'sa good price,thank you!

Stump Buster, How much room is there between the power adjustment ring on your scope and the top of the receiver? It looks close in the photo.

dad,

There's about 3/16" of clearance for the adjustment ring from the top of the receiver. The rear scope ring is also about 1/8" from the front of the adjustment ring. The Trijicon tube is just long enough to fit the Alaskan's scope ring spacing. The scope cannot shift in the rings but the downside is you don't have ANY room for eye relief adjustment. Fortunately for me, the distance works for my eyes (others who have shot the rifle haven't mentioned anything either about not seeing clearly through the scope and most really like the set-up).

Here are a couple pics I just snapped for you to see the space between the rear scope ring, the adjustment ring and the receiver...

Hope this helps,

Mike

ETA: Looking at the first picture from the previous post, I think that might be a blade of grass that's between the receiver and the power adjustment ring that's making it look closer than it is.
