I have a Super Redhawk Toklat, it comes with the 5" slab sided barrel. I am considering replacing the slab side barrel with a round one, either smooth, or a fluted one. Length would still be 5" with a fiber optic sight. Is the barrel on the SRH screwed into the frame and replaceable?

You could replace the sight on your slab-sided barrel with a fiber optic sight and you are half way there for $29.

I'm with you on the barrel swap. If it werent for that slab sided barrel I would have jumped on a toklat by now. In my opinion a round barrel would have been much more attractive.

The other route would be to chop a std. 454

I've seen chopped round 5" SRH's, and have 7.5" and 9.5" SRH's in 454, 480, and 44mag, as well as two Toklats - I actually prefer the slabsides.

SRH barrels are threaded, and occasionally you can find take off 7.5" barrels online or through certain revolversmiths which you could swap out for cheaper than having a custom tube cut.

Already half way there for $0, Ruger sent me the green fiber optic sight and the gold bead sight as a courtesy. The red ramp sight that came with it is the worst front sight I have ever seen, the gold bead was a slight improvement, the fiber optic is miles ahead of the other two. I don't think it will ever be traded out.
