I have a Super Blackhawk .44 that I purchased new in the mid-70's. While shooting it Sunday, the ejector rod, housing, spring all popped off. Upon investigation, it seems the threaded nub insert on the barrel sheared, it appears the threaded portion was spot welded to the machined receptor in the barrel. What is the recommended avenue to repair this issue?
Thank you for any help,
Rick

You need to have the ejector "lug" silver soldered back onto the barrel then the gun will need to be refinished (reblued).

PS This happens every now and then.......

Thank you for your reply.
I was afraid of this, and since there are no gunsmiths in this area, I assume Ruger can do it. Will check with them to understand charges etc.
Thanks again,
Rick

Thanks Steve,
I already contacted them and they have given me shipping instructions. Will do it promptly... I sure want this back in my range bag soon.

Be sure to let us know how your charges turned out. Ruger used to do repairs like this at NC as it was something that happened with their product, but with the new folks there, I've been hearing they are charging for everything.

I will let you know... this is going to their NH facility. Since it is obviously not caused by abuse, I am hoping the charges will be minimal.

I think you'll be pleasently surprised. Gonna be a freebie :) ps

They will probably change out your firing system to a transfer bar system and your old parts will be returned in a bag.

Same thing happened to my 45 Colt old model Blackhawk about 10 months ago, sent it back to Ruger they repaired the stud reblued/refinished it, replaced the old model parts with their transfer bar system returned the old parts had it back in less then two weeks and charged nothing.

That would be great. Although mine is a 'new' model Super Blackhawk... I have had it since 1975... So likely it will just need the stud replaced and rebluing... This is the first time I have had to send a Ruger product in for repair, however, I have used their firearms for many years.

I've sent in more revolvers than I can remember. The vast majority of the time the work is fantastic.....

This ol' Super was in kinda rough shape but I wanted it as a "shooter". Boy, am I ever pleased with what I got!

I did receive a postcard (tri-fold) acknowledging receipt of the revolver.... nice touch, removes the worry about it reaching them.

What is causing the red tinge on there? I like it.

Well...As I posted at the start of this thread, I mailled my NM Super Blackhawk .44 Mag (purchased in 1973) back to Ruger (on June 9th)because the ejector rod assembly separated from the barrel. Today (June 27th) I received the unit back, fully repaired, with very nice new grips, no charge. Amazing. Thank you Ruger.
