She's a peach! The summer solstice takes place this year today (21st of June) at 2:00 p.m. PDT. And here in Arizona, we've got the weather to prove that it IS indeed summer.

We hit 122 here yesterday... And it got down to a frigid 93 this morning at around 4:30 a.m. before temps started heading back up.

7:00 a.m. it was 103. Here it is just after 9:00 a.m. and it's 112.

We hit 124 last year for a 'summer high' in the back yard. We may beat it this year.

Happy Summer & stay cool!! Days start getting shorter starting tomorrow! ;)

Regards , Pete

Hi,

Welcome to summer! Best I saw yesterday was 108, which is plenty for me. Next door neighbor is a truck driver, who heads toward Phoenix every night. If there's a saving grace in that, he leaves the yard at 10:30 pm here, so the sun's not baking him. Plus it was down below 90 at that time last night, so at least it was tolerable to start! And they recently shortened his run so he doesn't go all the way into town now, which means he's home before it's getting too hot in the morning. I'll have to see how he's liking this!

My sister and her family lived in CG for about 10 years, and they said it's not hard to miss the heat once you've left it. She should be glad she wasn't sitting at Sky Harbor yesterday (she doesn't handle such changes of schedule with grace!) No sense of adventure, eh? ;)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH But you are so lucky that it's a DRY HEAT. :D

I have worked in the deserts of Kuwait and the Western Desert of Egypt at 120-130 and that Dry heat is BS  It is hotter when the wind blows because it blows the surface heat from the sand into your face. Oh but it is dry. When Daughter was flying out of Kuwait she said the temps in the MH-53 were around 140-145. Now remember she was in a hot arsh flight suite.

Hi,

"And so," according to the late comedian John Pinette telling of doing his first show in Vegas, "Is a blow torch!"

Ya get past 100, and I don't care where you are, it's hot. Past 110 it's freakin' hot. Past 120 you may want to check your pulse and re-examine the life you've led, cuz it might be an omen! Hottest I've ever been is 127, at the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and nothing was moving: the lizards, the rocks, and us, we were all going the same speed! I can't imagine having to work in that all the time like the guys in the various sandboxes we've gotten ourselves into.

You can keep your dry heat. It was 85 degrees, humid and a bit breezy on the Chesapeake Bay today. I took the day off and went fishing. My kind of summer day.
