I've been a longtime fan of the old tang safety 77's. I got a 9.3 African a while back that is a joy to carry and shoot. It feels downright svelte. :D For me the felt recoil feels lighter than my old beloved 06 TS that I took to Africa. It's all about fit. I haven't owned any other non tang safety 77's, except a 22 and 77/50. With the tang safeties, the stocks vary from pretty nice handling to near 2x6 clubs. I was wondering how the Hawkeye stock compares with the African.
Thanks

I have the African (9.3x62) and M77RSI Hawkeye rifles. The stocks are almost the same, except for checkering patterns. I also have an M77 MKII Ultralight and it is close to the Hawkeye stocks in feel/shape/size and handling. Ofcourse, there are handling differences as far as balance goes, especially comparing the African to the Ultralight. They all feel real good to me. RJ

Thanks, I'm going to keep my eyes open for a short action Hawkeye stock.
With a little work and some glass, I think it would make my little 250 Savage RLS an even nicer handling little rifle.
Thanks
