IIRC, I bought my first Old Army in 1972. Does that sound about right? I can’t remember if I gave $135 or $235 for it an a flask, brand new. I pretty much shot the thing to pieces and traded it off. A few days ago I was in one of my LGS and there on the shelf was an OA exactly like my first one...for $999 and tax. Good grief Charlie Brown. I simply can’t imagine paying that for a C&B revolver.

$135 sounds closer in 1972. I seem to recall buying a Smith 19 in '73 or '74 and IIRC it was about $140 or $150.

Was just thinking that I was making $1.25/hr=$50 week right out of high school in '77 so it would be 3 weeks worth of wages to buy that gun.

Well, they don't make them any more, so supply and demand will raise the prices.... Plus natural inflation.... Last two I bought were in the $800 range to finish my (shooting) collection of ROAs....

In 1975 the ROA had a suggested retail list price of $125, & a dealer price of $95.

And, cataloged was the brass GF option at $140 retail, & $106.40 dealer.

My next dealer price sheet I have is an 83, & what a difference. Understandable after the runaway inflation of '80-81.
