After an absence of many years I'm going to get into bullseye shooting. I've got a .22 Mark II Competition I bought new back in 1993. At that time I had a "trigger job" done to reduce the trigger pull. I know they didn't replace any parts but what did they typically do? Just polish things up a little? Would there be any benefit from a Volquartsen trigger kit?

I see that most everyone is now using red dot sights. What are the pros and cons between the Tasco BKRD3022 and the Ultradot 30mm? Big difference in price but what about performance? I've seen some quantitative listing of red dot scopes, but I haven't seen any qualitative comparisons. When you look at the pictures of some of these scopes they all look pretty much the same. Are they made by the same chinese company and just labelled differently?

If you had to choose between doing Volquartsen trigger job and getting a red dot scope, which would you do first?

I've done the VQ trigger work and have a red dot on my Mark III Hunter.... I think that you'd get the most bang for your buck out of the red dot. With that said, you will be very happy with trigger and sear replacement soon after. I have the Aimpoint Micro on mine and absolutely love it. Out of the two you mentioned, I would personally go with the Ultradot based on the rave reviews on them. I have a Tasco red dot but the dot isn't very crisp and not nearly as symmetrical as my Aimpoints.
