Didn't get all the details I should have... Gun is a 6 1/2 inch old model Super Single Six. It only has one cylinder with it. Looked like a LR cylinder to me. The cylinder has a firing pin groove. There is a star on the cylinder frame in front of the trigger guard... Been flipping through RENE looking for what it is... I see the NM star marked SSS but no OM. Anyone up for pointing me to the right page? I'll get pics and more details next time I visit the owner...

Me too.... Did a double take for sure... Let the sho nuf collectors get here at tell us what it is... Reworded the title to pull them in...

Give the factory a call to see what they say. To me, there shouldn't be any star marked OM Super Single-Sixes as those first came out with the NM LR only Single-Six in 1975.
Be sure to send me a PM of the sn.

Pictures for you guys and a call to Ruger may be a few days out... Got the serial number... SN is a dash number that makes it a 1975 NM Single Six... I get confused sometimes (us old guys are prone to that  ) so I have asked the owner to verify the serial number and that it is a 3 screw gun... May turn out to be a brain fart of mine and just a 1975 Star NM Single Six...

I distinctly remember a three screw gun but I do hold a lot of guns.... Could have been a flashback caused by all that recreational drug use in the 70s...

Gun is a NM just like the SN said it should be...... I hate it when the old man's head gets fogged up.... Sorry about that.

What is the tale behind the star marking?

Non-convertibles at a time when the "Norm" was dual cylinder Single-Sixes.

I have one "star" gun, a 9-1/2" stainless example. I got it on the cheap and made it a shooter. Tall, homeboy undercut front sight, retimed cylinder latch (no ring on the cylinder) and a decent trigger pull.

To quote the Beach Boys...."fun, fun, fun"....... :D
