Awww! This bites!
I was literally just going through some of his old comics from the 60's and 70's this afternoon.
He was probably the best as far as comics and characters.
R.I.P. Stan

There seems to be a curse on "The Big Bang Theory" TV show. Almost all of the older guest stars have died. Bob Newhart may be the last survivor.

Sad news for the comic fans.
He was the MAN behind Marvel comics. Him and Jack Kirby created a dynasty.
I still have 9-10 box's of old Marvel comics from the 60's
tucked under the desk and sideboard that I'm sitting at right now.
When I was a kid I collected Marvel, the other guys collected DC.
One day my Mom cleaned up my room a bit, threw out handfulls of comics.
About 80-100 of them.
They were the 1 through 10 of all the titles out at the time.
Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Spiderman,X men, Thor, ect.
Amazing Fantasy #15. First appearance of Spiderman. In great condition, $80,000.00 to $ 100,000.00 or so .All gone.
What I have all starts at #11.
I think most of us had a fortune full of collectibles pass through the hands when we were kids.

Those comics were a big part of my childhood. I liked all comics, but Marvel in particular. Stan, Jack "King" Kirby, Steve Ditko, Sam Rosen, they were quite the crew. I believe that genre of art/storytelling from the early to late sixties was just as classic as Shakespear or Dickens, in its own way. The world has changed greatly in the years since. We won't see their kind again. Thanks to "Stan and the gang" for adding so much to my childhood!

I was a bit off on the value of Amazing Fantasy #15.
Heritage auctions in 2016 , near mint issue went for $454,100.00.
Yep, I had that one. If it was a gun we would have to had called it " a shooter".

Hey BDM1, if you remember Ditko, you go all the way back.
Do you have a big orange button that say's " The MMMS wants you!" :o
( Merry Marvel Marching Society) , with a picture of the Thing, pointing a finger.
Also, Marvel had a stable of western comics.
Two Gun Kid ( wore a mask, like the lone ranger), Rawhide Kid ( with a cool all deep blue double button front jacket and trousers), and Kid Colt ( with a palimino vest).
I think I remember that right.
Way too much trouble to dig the box's out to look. I start on that, I'm in it for days.

I was't a member, but i remember the MMMS, the Yancy Street Gang, all of it. Unfortunately, i don't have any of the big money books!

Hi,

I had a reasonable baseball collection as a kid which went away some time between HS and my first year of college. Not a full retirement's worth, but a few cards would be worth a little more today than I paid for the bubble gum to get them back then. Mom thought it was just junk.

Many years later, my BIL and I were comparing various things "of value" our respective Mom's had tossed. My sister came in the room to join us, and suggested that maybe she should have their boys make HER a list of stuff not to throw away in one of her white tornado moments. Sounded like a good idea...

As for Stan Lee, there may be some more "first editions" from him. Heard a story on the radio today that he and his daughter were working on a new character at the time of his death, and she's said she plans to continue that work. They told us to watch for "Dirt Man" some time down the line. There were some comments that seemed like a really strange name until it was brought up that Ant Man was successful. Then there was an audible gasp in the studio as one of the people hoped out loud the new character wasn't patterned after Joe Dirt and his mullet!
