Stamp Scam

Ok, first off I know a fair amount of folks here don't use FaceBook. If you don't I guess you can ignore this one if you want. That said... I've noticed lately on FaceBook scam ads for US forever postage stamps being sold for half price or less. This is an obvious scam as the only source for stamps is the post office. They never discount their stamps. Any business that sells US Postage Stamps for less than face value is losing money so you will rarely see that except maybe for some business that wants to attract some new customers or for some other type of promotion, and the discount won't be much. Today I saw no less than a dozen of these scam ads on FaceBook. So, these ads are either one of two things. Either they will take your money and deliver nothing OR (more likely) they will sell you counterfeit stamps which will subject your mail to confiscation for evidence by the US Postal Inspectors. The real question is why does FaceBook allow this? They have algorithms that will ban you for saying what they deem is the wrong thing about vaccinations or any other number of such things yet they can't pick this stuff out to delete and ban the scammers. Makes you wonder how much of a cut they're getting.

Well, if one bought forevers at the initial rate and later sold for more, but less than the current value you could theoretically make money. But how many stamps would you have had to buy and sell to cover your overhead before making any profit.

The vast majority of ads selling stuff on Facebook are scams. Tools, jackets, watches, boots, stamps etc. - all scams. Most take your money via credit/debit card and send nothing. The local want ad groups are legit...

I bought forever stamps for less than they were worth from ebay. They are legit stamps.

I’m sure some of the facebook ones are scams.

First class stamps just went up to 63 cents....

I guess if you had a million of them at 60 cents, it would be worth selling a few :) for profit (?)

I thought Costco sold stamps for less than face value. Or used to anyway. I could be wrong though

The ads I have seen for the stamps claim to be USPO sponsored. I tell FB and they will at least be off of my screen.
Another one I see is overstocked generators for a hundred bucks with Costco logo on the page. I checked with Costco and looked up their price and came to the same scam conclusion. I don't see these ads anymore but am sure somebody gets taken to the cleaners on this.

Well, here's a bizarre twist this morning. If I try to "like" something on FB I get the below pop-up and it won't let me "like" anything. I can still comment on posts and I can still make my own posts I just can't "like" anything. The only "spam" I've been putting out is a warning on their numerous counterfeit stamp ads that includes a video from the postal inspectors about counterfeit stamps. Which, to my mind, proves that FB is getting a piece of the action on these counterfeit stamp ads if it PO'ed FB enough to restrict my account...
