Got my SR9C back on the sixteenth day. Not bad turnaround. I've talked to Ruger rep on the phone twice since my problem began and I have been impressed with the courtesy and response time. I was told by the rep to include a note with my gun that I WANTED TO BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE GUN HAD SHIPPED. It didn't happen. UPS delivered today without notification from Ruger. Am I upset? No. I have my gun back.
Range Report: Could not be happier. Initial problem was (as with so many others I've read about here) the trigger was not resetting properly. The trigger also felt "gritty" again as noted with many other posts. After 100 rounds of Federal 125 grain FMJ (Wal-Mart). Not a single issue and pretty good groops especially for a gun I'm not yet used to. I DO LOVE THIS GUN as I did right from the start. Now I love the trigger as well.
SO WHY AM I BUMMED OUT? There is a sheet included with the gun explaining what was done to repair it. There was also a statement that the gun was received with a "damged trigger guard." After my heart started beating again I grabbed the gun to find a chip in the trigger guard. It's not huge and it in no way interferes with the flawless operation but it is damaged and it is noticeable. THERE IS NO WAY the damage was there when I sent it back. I only had the gun for a little over a week and one range trip before I sent it back but I had cleaned it out of the box and after the range trip. I also handled it every single day during the time I had it. It was possibly damaged in shipment or by someone at the factory. Brand new Ruger right out of the box, sent back for repair, gone two weeks and comes back with damage. I"M NOT HAPPY and I'm probably screwed since it is my word against theirs.
Any suggestions about repairing the trigger guard? It's a very small, guessing a little over 1/16 of an inch on the edge of the trigger guard. Again, it does not interfere with my grip or function of the gun but it is certainly devalued should I ever decide to trade or sell. I'd appreciate suggestions on the trigger guard.
Was considering another Ruger (.380 LCP). Needless to say, the bad taste in my mouth right now is leaning me toward the Baretta Px4 Storm Sub-Compact.
