I just got my compact and have noticed that the slide sometimes gets caught up when trying to disassemble and even reassemble. I think it might be that lip on the recoil spring getting caught up on the lower receiver. Any thoughts?

I would guess that it's more likely that you forgot to push the ejector fully forward and down until it clicks before trying to remove the slide.

When your assembling the slide, pull the trigger forward. Sometimes the Striker Retaining Plate can catch on the Trigger Bar if the trigger's back when you're mating the slide to the frame. It's not a major interference but it can bump and drag on it, even wear at the polymer of the Retaining Plate. As for disassembly, I'd double check your pushing the Ejector down. Chances are the spring is not interfering. It's always got some compression on it to keep it in place.

Thanks for the suggestions. I actually found out that it's the guide rod lip on the spring catching on the synthetic housing in front of the camblock. This only happens sometimes (50%) when the guide rod slips down from the groove in the barrel.

That looks to be an awful lot of something (lube?) on the rails of the slide and on and possibly in the lower end. It only takes a tiny bit, too much is really bad.
