SR9c - The first 100 shots for you to see.

I picked up my SR9c yesterday and after a thorough inspection and cleaning, took it to the range for the first time today. Here's the results of my first 100 shots in 10 shot groups ranging from 7, 11, and 15 yards.

Actually it should've read "still sighting in and the last couple shots looked good enough"

Our range has a 1 sec rule. I think I did them in like 7 or 8 seconds. These were done after zeroing the sight. And I may have gone a little to far on the windage. I may have to check it again next time.

Well, I went through a couple of hundred rounds today. I think I'm getting the hang of the trigger. Hopefully next time I can group it as tight as my other guns. Oh and after 200 rounds, no malfunctions. Great little gun.

I really like mine, the second time I took it shooting I also took my SR9 to compare the two and I was surprised to see that I shot tighter groups with the C. I felt like I had better control with it, I don't know why maybe it's the trigger but I do know I,m looking forward to shooting it more. Dusterman

Dusterman, I've never shot the SR9 but comparing this SR9c to my guns with match triggers, it's definitely not far off.

Satman2300, thanx man, I really pride myself in marksmanship and I'm always open to new methods and techniques. It took some time to get used to the trigger but every gun is sort've a puzzle and it takes some time to figure it out. I dry fired it a few hundred times before taking it to the range.

tkarter, I don't pretend to be able to shoot under pressure as I'm very limited in combat and self defense practice. Hopefully, my trigger finger will be calm and methodical if I need to draw my weapon. That's why I take marksmanship so seriously.

krtsr9c, man, you'll love it! I can't wait to get back out there. Hopefully I'll find some time on Sunday!

I appreciate everyone's compliments! I was very excited to show that this little gun, when you do your part, will perform. I didn't want doubters saying that it's not accurate or something ignorant like that. Obviously I'm no expert, I've only been shooting for a little over a year. And hopefully, I'll get better with the SR9c as I get more rounds down range. But I have no doubts that this gun will shoot better than I'm capable of.

There was a nice difference between your first and second targets. You are doing very well. Looks like your gun is running without malfunctions, I assume.

Yes, there were no malfunctions. I measured the trigger last night and it was breaking right around 7lbs. It's definitely the same as another SR9c that I've dry fired. So I guess that's what these triggers are weighing?

7lbs sounds about right for Ruger triggers. Seems to common on then thanks to the lawyers.

How did you adjust the windage on your sight? I bought an SR9c last saturday and took it to the range on sunday. I need to adjust the sight for shooting lefty, everything hits to the right. I loosened the set screw but couldnt get it to move. I need to do the one on my P944 as well.

I had several stove pipes in the first 50 rds with Remington 115 gr. ammo. Put about 100 rds of Ruag Swiss ammo through it with no problems then tried the Remmy ammo again and it worked much better.

Don't move the sight just yet. shoot it plenty before blaming the gun.

But when you do need to move it use a brass drift or wood along with the hammer to make it move.

Move it from left to right. until it frees up a bit.

Yeah, loosen the set screw, then tap the sight in the direction that you want the bullets to go. I used a brass punch and a small hammer. I guess you could use just about anything to do it. It moved fairly easily. I first tried tapping it like I would drift out a pin but that wasn't enough. I then tapped like I was nailing a small nail into a 2x4 and the sight drifted a mm at a time. I think I went two mm. I think I need to drift it back about a half mm.

Seeing your list of guns and the ages of them :o, I'm sure you stove pipes weren't from limp wristing. My guess is that the recoil assembly is extremely stiff on the SR9c and the Remington ammo is a bit underpowered. I wouldn't worry about it once the recoil spring loosens up a bit and if you're using self defense ammo, which is what really counts right? I'm pretty sure that if I was using our cheap reload range ammo, I would've had a few FTE's.

Thanks for the info on the sights guys. I tried tapping it with my leatherman when I was at the range but knew it wasnt the right tool for the job and didnt want to hit it very hard. I have a couple thousand rounds through the KP944 and it always hits the same distance to the right and the SR9c hits about the same. So I figure its because they aim a bit different shooting lefty.

The FTEs did decrease a lot after shooting the Ruag ammo through it, which is 124 gr. so I think I just need to put some more of that stuff through it to loosen things up then it should eat whatever I feed it.
