SR9C - First trip to the range - WOW!

WOW is all I can say! I just got back from the range with my new SR9C. I ran 200 rounds of WWB 100rd boxes and 28 rounds of Remington 115gr JHP. ZERO hiccups - ZERO problems! This gun shoots way better than me, the recoil is less than I thought and the slide is loosening up even more now that I have shot it! I don't think I could have missed the target if I tried!

Now in this same range session I tried out my new Kel Tec P11 - ran about 40 rounds through it....I never hit the target once! Go back to the SR9C - back on target - good groups. So I am going to sell the Kel Tec. THat thing was worse than my P3AT! I just can't control it very well.

So, I think of all the pistols I have had over the years this SR9C is my favorite!

Glad you got 200 rounds of WWB in that SR9 without incident. A few have had multiple light strikes on that particular brand/ammo. Enjoy the 9c!

I had read that about the WWB. That was a main reason I grabbed those out of my gun locker. I thought I would really test her

Hey congratulations on a successful range visit. Did you get a SS or blackened SR9c? Either way, you have a great pistol! I am really enjoying my SS SR9c.

Congrats on a great handgun. I have a stainless one as well. 400 rounds so far and not a single problem. And it is accurate, comfortable, perfect size, and smooth. If it was a 45, I would carry it 100% of the time. (I have to stop thinking the 9mm is not a good stopper. Times have changed.)

Love my “C”. Help these old eyes pass my CHL proficiency test. We took both SR9’s to the range yesterday and thoroughly abused them, shooting 100’s of rounds with 5 shooters and no rest for the guns. Only 1 light strike on the C, last round, hot gun, cheap Russian ammo.

(I have to stop thinking the 9mm is not a good stopper. Times have changed.)

I keep Remington 124 +P JHP loaded in both guns, I think those should do the trick!

Interesting decision.. I bought a blue 709 slim last year, and a SS SR9c this year. They were birthday presents to myself.

I am liking the 709 now. I sent it back to Taurus due to semi-continuous FTEs, with most commercial ammo. They corrected the problem, and now it is a dream to take to the range. Certainly the smaller of the two pistols. I have been toying with the idea of it for my cc.

Now, the new 9c... well, it has been a great experience. I think I have put close to 500 rounds downrange with it, without even a hiccup. No muss, no fuss, it just works well.

Yes, they are both 9mm pistols, but the style and design of the two display some significant differences. A 7 shot single stack clip, or a 10 or 17 round double stack clip is just one different feature. There are several more. The 709's design and size scream ccw, but the 9c just works!

You have a tough decision...do what I did!

Just got the SR9 out of the box. Ran a snake down the barrel and set it to work. 200 rds down range and no hiccups. (Winchester 115grain 9X19) AWSOME!

Good fit! Factory sites lined right up and droped a 3 1/2 patteren at 25. (not bad for a guy with parkensons) For a light weapon I was also expecting more recoil. I was definatly impressed.

I can now see why guys are changing from CC to Service.

I have put about 400 rounds thru my SR9 since buying it last Saturday.
No problems and it is my most accurate handgun - really a blast (pun intended) to shoot.

I love the feel of the SR9c...but I'm not a huge fan of DAO pistols. I bought my P97DC last month and since then I'm pretty much sold on the DA/SA system. I think my only other gripe about the 9c could be the hideous (sp?) loaded chamber indicator! Okay, I get it, I know I have one in the chamber, does it really need to be huge and red??? :roll: A smaller LCI would be just fine. Your FTF issue is interesting, the salesman at one of the shops was saying Taurus were having some QC issues about a year ago. I'm assuming they fixed it free-of-charge under their lifetime warranty? Capacity is another big plus for the Ruger. Like I said, I just need to shoot both. Maybe after shooting the 9c I'll get over the DAO trigger.

I guess all I want is a CC gun that is small enough to fit in a cell phone case, holds 1,000,000 rounds of .45 ACP, weighs less than 1oz, and has no recoil! :roll: I don't think that's too much to ask. lol

I didn't know a striker fired gun like the SR9c was considered as DA :?: I just thought it was more like SA as it pulls the same way for every shot, no matter what.

The striker returns to a partial cocked position after each round is fired (or the slide is cycled). Squeezing the trigger finishes cocking and releases the striker. A SA system will leave the hammer fully cocked after each cycle, think 1911 or Browing Hi-Power, where all the trigger does is release the hammer.
