SR9 vs. 24/7-40

My buddy just bought a Taurus 24/7 in .40 S&W last week. I've been at work and haven't been home (or on here, either). He was telling me about it on the phone a couple of days before I caught a bit trip and got to go home for a day. He bet that his 24/7 shot smoother than my SR9. So, being the faithful Ruger-man I've ended up becoming (not one complaint), I stood up for my gun, and continued to tell him he was full of (it) and didn't know (it) about what he was talking about in only the 2 best friends can. LOL Well, when I get to go home we each grab a box of ammo and head out to the farm. After 25 shots apiece with each gun, the FAITHFUL SR9 came out on top in smoothness, overall accuracy, and quick mag changes. He did have me beat at 10 yd accuarcy, I adjusted the SR9's sight out to 25-30 yds last time I put any amount of ammo though it; so, I had him beat at 25 yds. Plus, the 24/7 is shooting to the left w/ non-adjustable sights.

There's my first rant in a couple of weeks. LOL Just had to brag. But, the 24/7 was a very nice shooting gun. Not putting Taurus down, just lifting Ruger up.

Almost every new gun shoot low and left for a shooter. It is usually the shooter not the sights.

Have no fear the SR9 will outlast the 24/7 from what I know about taurus handguns.

And if there is a problem with the Taurus (which there will be) he will have to pay out of pocket to ship it back (over night shipping only!) to the factory. If he can get them to agree there is a problem.

I know someone that just bought a brand new Taurus 1911 clone. Got it home and stripped down to clean it. Found 3 pits in the barrel. Store said it had to go back to the manufacturer, Taurus said he had to ship it over night on his dime for them to look at it.

Gotta love Rugers service. One of the reasons I'm a big Ruger fan.

Thats not the service I got from Taurus. I had problems with my PT709,they told me to return it to Academy and they would take care of everything. And they did at zero cost to me. I was very pleased with the service.

Thats not the service I got from Taurus. I had problems with my PT709,they told me to return it to Academy and they would take care of everything. And they did at zero cost to me. I was very pleased with the service.

Same here...I had a PT145 that had a problem, notified Taurus and it was taken care of at no cost to me at all...shipping both ways paid for, no charge for the repair. I'd still have it if my son didn't like it so much. I may add another one day...

I'd rather not find out how Taurus' customer service is by just not buying any of their products. The track record is pretty long for having sub par products. I'll give them 15-20 years and if by then, they've really kept it going I'll think about it.

Society has a short memory. (This time it's different, ...Hope ...Change .etc.)

It's not us. It doesn't shoot low. The sights need to be drifted over to the right a little.

I'm not sure if that's worth sending it in or not. A gun smith shouldn't charge too much to do it.

Mine was shooting low when I put the MePros on it. I took the front sight out and filed it down and redrilled it for the pins and now it shoots dead on.

If I pull the trigger correctly that is. LOL.

I am not sue what I would do with a Taurus with fixed sights. LOL
