I can shoot the eyes out with my 9c, and have a S&W SD9 as a bedside gun. Can't shoot it nearly as well, and I'm considering trading it for an SR9. I know some of you guys have both, are they similar in grip- pointability? The SD feels fine, but even after 800 rounds, adjusting ths ights- I have too many 'flyers'... and I'm never really sure where the bullet will land- yet sometimes I can shoot 3 ronds and they all touch. Since it's my home-d gun I really need more accuracy. Don't get me wrong, the SD is reliable as heck, I just think I can do better.

Ever try putting one of those rubber Hoage grips with the finger groves? Made a world of difference to me and my shooting. I hear it ruins others ability to shoot well. But you seem to like the SD and I think they are only around 12 dollars.

But if its not doing well for you as is seems worth a shot. If not your only in the hole 12 bucks. 800 rounds and playing with sites the whole time sounds like a nightmare.

Install the included 17 round mag with the spacer in your SR9C. That's almost exactly how the full size SR9 feels except for slightly more muzzle heaviness due to the longer barrel.

Thanks Buckeye, from what I've read they're pretty much the same. Looked at 3 different stores but no one has one to fondle.
Rei40c, I have the Pachmayrs, with the finger-grooves, and another set with just the rubber sleeve. Same problem. I only adjusted the rear sight once, it stopped me from shooting left all the time, but the wild shots, and the less accurate groups just has me stumped. I know groups aren't that important for SD, but all in all I think I could do better.

Yeah, the 9c with the 17 round mag/spacer setup gives it a good heft. I really enjoy shooting w/the bigger magazine. I'm stating the obvious, but the small mag makes it an ideal carry piece, so I have to practice with that too, if I want to feel comfortable/competent using it in "carry mode."

I have 3 17-rd mags, I always shoot the rounds I have in my 'carry mode' the HPs in the 10 rd mag, then practice with the 17s. This way I know my HPs are working, my 10-rd is working, and it's not too expensive to fire 11 of the HPs each time I go.
Midway has the 10-rd mags for $33.++, can't remember the cents. I need to get another in case this one goes bad. Have to order the pinky-thing from Ruger, think it's $6.95.

That is the reason I bought the new SR9 to have the same feel as my SR9C when I compete. I didn't like the spacer in my Compact due to the chance of pinching my hand during a fast reload and plus I had to put a small strip of white medical tape on the mag to keep the spacer from moving during competition. The plus side with the new gun is now I have 3 17 rd mags for the SR9 so that is 51 rds on me when I start a stage of competition.
I have three 10 rd mags for the compact for IDPA rules,
and three 17 rd mags for the Std SR9 for IDSA
