Nice groups. I really wish the range in my area offered those high visibility yellow and black targets. As it is all we have are 6 different types, all standard bullseye type targets and a few versions of the silhouette targets. All cheapos.

The range rules say I cannot bring my own targets, and must buy targets at the range which are $1 each. 10 bucks for a lane for an hour so I usually just buy 3 to keep cost down.

I usually fire about 150 rounds per trip too and 3 targets really isn't enough I think. 50 rounds per target makes it kind of a mess and I quickly loose track of my old and new hits.

Thanks for the compliments. That stinks about not being able to bring
your own targets. The range I am a member at allows you to shoot
at just about anything. silhouette, paper, hi-viz. A buck a target - highway
robbery my friend.

Gotta agree on the target prices, to make matters worse they look really old, like from the 1970's old. Most are yellowing at the edges as paper does in old books. Looks like they've been sitting in storage about 30 years.

I keep an eye out for someone in the range with an SR9C I could talk to. I have the SR40c and would love to swap guns for a few rounds with an SR9C owner just to see how different they feel. Seems they function in an exactly similar manner.

I've only been twice, so far the only other Ruger owner there was a guy 3 lanes to my right who was firing the LC9 with the laser.

That really stinks!
I refer to these type of ranges-shops as "Yuppie shops", out only to really attract customers from the higher income levels and screw the working guy. Bet they don't let you shoot your own reloaded ammo either, using the old lame excuse that we can't be trusted to reload safe ammo.
Ran into that a few times in the last 5 years or so.
I was asked to leave Mega-Sports in Plainfield IL when I voiced my opinion on their similar polices. Told him as I was walking out the door, "no problem, I'd never spend a nickel here in any case". I know they really don't care but they have no idea how much cash I spend a year on my shooting addiction and how much $ they just turned away.
S-rew them.
Hope you can find an alternative place to shoot and do business with.

Yes Sal and I think that's the only option I'd really have which is to vote with my wallet. The problem is in my city its the only indoor range within about 35 minutes driving distance, and by the way in an extremely poor part of town. Even at 10am you see some very interesting individuals on street corners as you near it.

Anyway it is a racket. Think about it, they probably have 10,000 of those cheap paper targets they paided a nickle per copy for back in the 80's or something at a gun show, who knows. At $1 a pop that's one heck of a profit. Sad thing is they will sell every single one eventually. It burns me up but I really need to practice so I bent over and handed over the money.

However I am looking at outdoor ranges now the nearest is about 40 minutes away. The only thing that keeps me from going is I don't know the norm accepted rules and there's no range staff at all. I know yelling HOT and COLD means something I just don't know what.

Oh also on the ammo issue, they seem to have a pre briefed line that you get as you exit the shooting area on your way out. "Have Fun?" I always say yep to which I always get the counter "I would be happy to sell you more ammo if you don't want to stop."

....yeah buddy, I think, I'm sure you would. :? I have no idea what they charge but I can imagine. lol

public shooting ranges are very expensive to operate, and even more so in urban areas. That being said they are nearly always guaranteed lots of customers just because they are a shooting range. I find the outright gouges and rules designed to make you spend more money insulting to myself and the gun community overall.
