SR9 - Galloway Precision 'Smooth it' trigger kit

I'm thinking about getting the Kit4 (springs, polished plunger/indicator, Ghost ultimate trigger bar)

I've heard good things about the Ghost, but anyone have feedback on the other parts of this kit? Do they really smooth out/lighten the trigger pull? Is the benefit (if any) worth $70?

Any first-hand experience will be helpful, thanks.

the smoothit kit i installed on my SR9 made the pull weight slightly heavier but crisp and smooth. polish the internals and i feel it makes a more shootable carry weapon. the trigger is heavy enough to not be dangerous and i hit my targets better than when it was mushy. you will also find the galloways will deliver what they promise in a timely fashon. they are also honest and eager to satisfy customers. the fact that they are Christian makes me even more confident. i have dealt with them on numerous ocasions and recomend them highly.
the weapon with kit you described installed will not have a target trigger but will be very good for every day carry. good all around improvement.

well i'm not sure I agree that religious affiliation translates to customer service, but I do appreciate you're feedback. You think it actually made your pull heavier though? That would be unfortunate since the pull on my new sr9 is already about 6lbs. Anyone else have feedback? Wondering if I'd be better of just getting the ghost ultimate and not bothering with the other replacement parts.

That being said i would rather hear about the quality of galloways products than his religious affiliation. I have heard many great things about his customer service but very little detail about the products themselves. Can anyone here give details about this kit and how it compares to the ghost bar alone and also the stock components?

I have done business with Eric Galloway since he was initially getting his business up and running. I have had good results with all of his products. Additionally, he is a stand-up guy, and is very helpful. Personally, I don't give a rip about a person's religious beliefs, that is a personal matter best left to a man and his Maker.

I put in the Galloway smooth-it kit as well as the Ghost transfer bar and it was easy. My SR9 is much smoother and the trigger is lighter and more crisp. I am no gunsmith (and don't play one on TV) but it was not hard.

Both kits (to me) work well together and make the SR9 much better. Just after putting them in, I fired much better at an IDPA match than I have ever done. Silky smooth trigger did that for me.

Buy both of them and pay attention to the instructions. Its easy.

I'll post an update when I get the stuff installed, fitted and tested. In the mean time here is a pic of my shooting with the gun as-is. I need to adjust the sight elevation down about 3 inches but its a tight group, about 1.5 inches. Five rounds fired, first two through the same hole (green) and other three below in the orange. Ten yards at rest.

Just received the kit#3 from Galloway for my new SS SR9. Will install hopefully this weekend.

Got my order from Galloway today.

After many painstaking hours, I got the ghost rocket fitted and reset spring installed. Haven't got the other spring installed yet (think its the trigger safety spring, but honestly not sure). Haven't been able to install the polished plunger either. I don't have the proper tools and think I'm gonna have to buy a real punch to install it.

Even with half the stuff installed, I really like the change so far. The most notable change is that the pull is more consistent and doesn't feel heavier with travel. Also, the over travel is almost non existent now with the rocket's tab.

Couldn't say anything about the guide rod yet really. It looks cool, but also doesn't seem to mount well on the slide. Sometimes it seems to catch on something, but I'll see if it actually affects its function. Also not sure if the 20lb spring was a good idea, feels pretty stiff in comparison. But then again, my stock 18lber has 400 rounds through it and is pretty broken in.

I plan on going shooting on Wednesday or Thursday to test it, I'll report here when done.

Range test went really well.

It still feeds ammo without a hitch, no FTF or FTE, and the trigger is smooth and breaks beautifully. Pretty sure I feel a distinct difference with the new 20lb recoil spring. Seemed to lighten recoil a small bit. It didnt cause any issues going to battery either, which was a relief since I was afraid it wasnt fitting well. Only put 40 rounds through it, but it shoots like a dream.

Money well spent IMO.

I'm looking at getting Kit 4 and a new Spring for my SR9c and was just curious as to how you felt with the 20lb spring? In your inital test you said you were "pretty sure" you felt a differece, just wondering if you were able to shoo it again and if you feel the 20lb spring did take away some of the recoil?

How was the install of the trigger kit? Any special tools needed?

The trigger kit install wasn't super difficult. The most time consuming part was fitting and installing the Ghost Rocket, but if you get the Kit 4 you wont have that issue as the Ghost Ultimate doesn't require fitting. Installing the springs can be a bit tricky too. I don't have any punches for the pins, so I improvised with hex keys and a hammer, using a fine cloth for dampening the hammer strikes. It wasn't ideal but I was careful.

I can't really say whether the 20lb spring made a difference, but I was getting the SS guide rod anyway so I figured I'd take Galloway's advice and get a 20lber rather than the stock 18lb. However, I am going shooting Wednesday morning and will bring my stock guide rod to compare it side by side with the new one.

I'll update wednesday.

I just got the Kit 3 (without the Ghost Bar) because I wanted a different Ghost Bar (the Tactical). With the Ghost Bar, Kit 3, and minimal polishing of the Striker and Trigger Bar, my SR9 went from a little over 7 lbs to about 4.75 lbs.

The pull is also a lot smoother.

ETA: The Ghost Bar by itself only dropped it to about 6 lbs.

Sorry for the late update, lots going on here...death in the family, sister getting married, wife graduating nursing school, in-laws in town, and all within a couple weeks.


Anyway, we went shooting Wednesday as planned. However, I forgot to bring my stock guide rod for comparison. I do have to say that I still havent had any feed issues or fte with the heavier spring. So in conclusion I'd say that worst case scenario is that the 20lb spring makes no difference at all, as it hasnt caused any problems.


Round count on this gun is now 650, with 250 rounds fired since the trigger work. Love this gun more than any other I own. Next and last step is to get some polishing compound and polish up the contacts in the trigger assembly and see if I can lighten/smoothen up the pull even more. Then I'm turning on my 10-22 for a trigger job and internal work.
