SR556 Mags?

Hi,

I'm a brand-new member, so be gentle!


I just bought an SR556 and I noticed they all seem to include MagPul magazines and I wondered why, since I also see Ruger mags for sale?

First off, welcome! Second, I have no idea why they ship MagPul mags with them. Mine came with 3 of them. I have some metal ones too and all of them work fine.

Thanks for the reply. It just seemed sort of odd, since a review of the rifle on G & A TV and in a gun magazine specifically stated how the Ruger brand was all over this rifle (like the sights), and Ruger makes mags for it, yet includes MagPul mags ... oh well.

Maybe they felt Magpul inspired brand reliability in the magazine?

When they first introduced the SR556 they went with what the industry preferred which was the Magpul magazines, to be competitive with the AR556 they chose metal mags.

Thus you see they offer both for sale and either will work in either rifle, your preference is all that matters. I prefer the Magpul mags myself..
