Does anybody have any rounds through one of these yet? I am looking at buying a new IDPA rig, and I really like the SR platform, as I have the SR9 and the SR9C.

I have read a ton of reviews, but I would like to hear from a real world SR40 owner.....

I don't think there are enough proper reviews of it yet to go off yet. Just my opinion, but here is my take on it...

The grip and overall feel of the gun is nice. Feels as good as the SR9 just a bit heavier due to obvious reasons. Mine was actually dead on out of the box, well except the elevation was off but that's a 2 sec fix. Mags are as always notoriously hard to hand load. Left em full for a few days and now its much easier. I won't complain about that tho because ide rather have a spring to stiff then to loose...sounds weird lol.

Recoil is light for a .40cal, very light for a .40cal with similar frame actually. Is it as light as a 9mm? Well...yes and no. Lighter then some...yes, heavier then others...yes, same as a SR9...no. It is very controllable though.

I love everything about it but two things. First is the guide rod. I hate plastic guide rods. They feel and look cheap to me, and I hate the sound it makes when I pull back on the slide. Next is the trigger. I won't say its horrible, cause its not. But I still don't think its the same as the SR9c trigger. Now I only have 250 or so rounds through mine so maybe it will get better. Maybe I could polish the contact areas up. I dunno but like I said its not bad but imo its not great either.

All I know is gallow precision here I come! But if your looking for a slim full size .40 that's a solid all around performer at a great price point...this is what you want. Oh and I haven't had a single issue yet, firing 165g wwb...

I love my SR40. Approx 500 rounds so far.
Remember to clean the gun prior to the range.
Remove the striker to clean out the gunk inside.
Many people do not do this and complain about a lousy trigger feel.

I have @1000 rounds thru mine. WWB, Rem, Federal, Fiocci, reloads. 165HPs and 180HP and solid. No problems - goes bang every time and hits what I aim at. Had it and the SR9c at the range Sat and was impressed by how similar they are are. 40 kicks a little harder is the main difference. Buy one, you won't regret it.

It's a Ruger SR-series semi-automatic pistol chambered for .40 S&W.

Very accurate and easy to keep on target.

Easy mag changes.

I have 1000 rds thru mine, all 170 tc lead reloads. NO problems! Mine comes back to POA faster than my SR9c, might be because it is a little heavier?
All in all I LOVE IT!

You don't read much about the SR40 as there are very few haters, :shock:

Mine has been really dull 8)
Shoots great, no problems and it's a GRAT deal!

There's a lot to be said for the "boring is good" angle, esp. when it comes to a gun a lot of people keep in their homes. When you keep a pistol for self defense in your house, you don't necessarily want it to be "exciting" 8) It's like a fire extinguisher with bullets: you put it some place, sometimes not even thinking about it for extended periods of time, in anticipation of the reality that in a real emergency, when you're otherwise ready to soil your undergarments, you can pick it up and it will reliably tell you what's up and function the way you need it to without a lot of fuss or reintroduction. That's why I like my SR9 also.

Sure, I CAN get excited about it if I try... :lol: but when I'm not feeling like that I prefer the gun to default to "boring".
