I picked up a used SR22(traded a mosquito) and am having feeding problems. Almost always happens when I empty a mag, insert new mag and hit the slide release. The new bullet doesn't seat properly and the slide doesn't close completely. When I pull the slide back slowly, it feels as though it is catching on the hammer. I had another one I gave to a friend several years ago that never had any problems. Suggestions?

The SR22 Owner's Manual indicates that to close the slide from the locked open position, the slide should be pulled fully to the rear and released. When this method is used with a loaded magazine it would allow the slide to have the most power, while moving forward, to strip a round from the magazine and push it into the chamber. Don't ease the slide down to the closed position when loading as the round may not fully seat in the chamber.

Pushing the slide stop down is not indicated as the correct/preferred method of closing the slide.

See "To Unload" paragraph 4 on P20 and "To reload the Pistol" paragraph 3 on P21.

Have you cleaned and lubed it properly? Does it still have the magazine disconnect/safety in it? If it does that may be the problem.

Welcome to the forum! When I bought my SR22, I took it straight out to the range and started shooting. It wouldn't cycle anything reliably. I took it home, disassembled it, cleaned it thoroughly, put it back together and it has been perfect ever since. Ruger used to ship their semi-autos ready to shoot. Now they ship them ready to clean. It could be that your was never cleaned thoroughly.

Found out I had a broken foreign pin. Called Ruger and they sent me a shipping label, replaced the barrel, slide and frame and sent it back in in about 2 weeks NO CHARGE. Thank you Ruger.
