SR1911 spotted

I stopped by Whittakers today around noon and I finally got to see a SR1911. The gun was very impressive, more so than I expected. The finish was perfect and the trigger crisp. Fitting was excellent and looked as good as the Dan Wesson beside it. The mag was very well made as well with clear stampings and bright finish. I was fondling it when an older gentleman came over just minutes behind me and nervously asked if I was going to buy it. I said no, not today, just admiring it. He whipped out the plastic and a sale was made.
I have a Kimber, and a couple of Springfields, but this gun really appealed to me. Maybe for no other reason than it is a Ruger!

BTW, the price was 599.99 and it was the only one they had. The clerk said they had sold several but only got one, sometimes two at a time and not one lasted more than two hours in the case, most never made it to the case at all. I really like this gun.

It's the best I've heard of. The owner said they were putting their normal mark up on them and were aware of the big prices seen elsewhere. One of the reasons I support this LGS, been going there for nearly 20 years, they've always been fair and honest with me.

Whittakers is a rare shop that prices all their stuff very competitively.

It is good to know that not all gunshops are gouging prices on the SR1911.I would frequent that store as well .

It's a really good store Gregg. They will ship if you ever see anything on their site you may be interested in. Their web site is marginal at best and it's better to call because there are bunches of guns not listed?? They supposedly have over 6000 in stock. It's a family business and has a very rural atmosphere type feel. I am lucky to live only 25 minutes away.
