Tried to measure the height of my front sight with the idea of ordering a genuine Novak prophylactic replacement.

As near as I can tell, it's 0.200", MOL.

Anyone know if there is an official height?

I called technical assistance on Brownells 800 number as I wanted a backup front sight if mine broke. .215 was the recommendation.

IIRC, Novak makes sights from about .160" to .225", not all of which Brownells carries.

If I were shooting bullseye with black sights, I could file down a too-tall sight to fit. Not sure how well that would work with the three dot system.

The front sight recommended by Brownells was for a Colt, but fits the Ruger dovetail. Probably will need a little fitting. Also has a white dot. I ordered one for the day the factory front sight self destructs.
