I was browsing at the LGS after some range time, wondering if they happened to have an SR1911 in yet, and I was surprised by what I saw in the case. They had a SR1911 from the Custom Shop, which I'm assuming was the factory shop, not aftermarket. Engraved filigree around the perimeter of the slide sides and ivory (fake of course) handles. I didn't know they existed...I've never heard anyone mention one. I didn't have time to ask about it, but it had $1198 on it. Personally I think the stock SR1911 is beautiful the way it is, but it was an interesting find! Has anyone else seen one?

I don't think Ruger has a custom shop. And the one you're talking about isn't made by Ruger, from what I've heard on another thread in this forum. The one Hittman listed above^

Yep, that's the one. Personally, I liked the engraving but if you want to go that style I think I'd like mother of pearl for the grips. I'm not really into the fancied up models.

What is the finish on that gun? It does not look like engraving or etching. It almost looks painted on.

Thanks, I did not think of a lazer. How will it stand up to normal handling?

I am curious as the gun has a normal Ruger label and the standard SR1911 model number 6700 listed on the box. My guess is this is an after market variation and not a factory variation.....

Any one know for sure?

Yep ~
