I know that it is still on their web site but in an e-mail I got from Ruger they said: "We are currently not producing the 5601 model at this time."

Does "not currently producing" mean discontinued?
Maybe Ruger and their wholesalers have sufficient inventory to cover anticipated demand through the next quarter.

Regardless, Ruger is the best source of info on this question.

At $700 more than many other quality manufacturers sell theirs for, my
bet is that it doesn't take a large stock to handle three months sales.

It would be sad if they dropped it. I have one and love it. It is a real beast with little recoil.

That is true. I have a friend who works for a big distributor. They do not expect to sell out anytime soon.

Personally I am going to wait quite a bit and the make them a very low offer. Might not work but worth a try.
