Spring 38 rusting out?

Pocket carry everywhere HAS rusted out factory original spring 38 that was never SS
Went to replace this rust broken part only to find NO Stainless Steel/equal metal non-corrosive as a replacement.

Soooo the engineering IQ WAS & replacement options IS
to allow rust-out on an internal spring trapped inside an already tight cylinder until it fails at just the wrong time

IDEAL: Spring 38 available in 18/10 stainless PLEASE

Your original message is a bit gibberish, but I'm guessing you're looking for a stainless spring of some sort.

You're not going to find one. Stainless steel is not suitable for spring applications. Either the spring force is too low, or the cycles to failure are too low, or the treatment necessary compromises the corrosion resistance of the material.

I suggest putting something on the spring to prevent corrosion and regular maintenance. A corrosion inhibiting grease in the spring pocket comes to mind.

Yes, a little lube goes a long way towards prevention. I've never had a problem with any internals rusting on anything.
