Neat but doesn't a Mod 97 hold 6 in the magazine tube? Or do the rules say you can only load two in the mag to even it up for double side x side shooters?

Yup, only 2 shotgun rounds max. But most 97 shooters just load 1 at a time thru the ej port. The good ones can grab 4 rounds in 1 hand. I tried it and all four got fumbled to the ground. I can grab 2 without a problem, but not 4. Then just throw them in 1 at a time. A few will grab 2, load 1 thru the ej port, close the slide and push 1 into the mag tube. I'm faster with my side X side.

Reminds me of an article I read years back in the PA Game News. The author practiced and perfected his loading technique with a single barrel break action shotgun. His goal was to shoot a double on grouse with it in the field. He Told the story of how he finally was able to after a couple failed attempts. For a kid that grew up with break action shotguns it was an interesting story.

My main hunting shotgun since I was 12yrs old was a vintage Model 97. I have tried all kinds of loading technique with it over the years, she is amazing and I just learned a new trick, plus, she is a poster girl for "smoking hot girl who likes to shoot guns" I do love that in my women

Talk about Politically Correct-it hit Cowboy action shooting when we started holding four to load, then one of the guys made a holder that held 4 shells in one big loop on a belt he made, so as we all did until folks with small hands complained I can't
hold 4 in my hand, vote was took, people with no hands won, only two in the hand allowed.
That led to believe it or not, the beginning of a downfall he's always faster than me, I never get to win, scoring was changed
to make everyone equal
