Speedloaders For an SP-101

I know HKS makes a speedloader for the the .38/.357 5-shot S&W J-frames that also works for the 5-shot .38/.357 SP-101.

However, Safariland makes their Comp 1 speedloader in a model (J-C7) to fit the 5-shot J-frames but does not list the SP-101 as compatible with it. A call to Safariland confirmed they do not recommend that speedloader for the SP. Any idea why not and has anyone tried it for an SP-101 and what was the result and/or problem?

I have HKS speed loaders that don't work worth a dern with my SP101. I just carry speed strips.

My HKSs do too but I was really wondering if and why the Safariland equivalent is reported not to.

The J-C7 also called the CH-7 Safariland Comp 1 does fit all of my sp101's VERY well. I guess they never tried them on an actual sp101 at company headquarters? Feeds with ease on the factory small grips and all Hogue's.

I've used the Comp 2 with my GP100. I like you I couldn't find one for my SP101 so, I got the HKS ones, which I actually like better.

I know the other one is supposed to be faster but, I really don't think it's by much.

I have a SP101 and agree with Infantryman as they work quite well. Brownell's offers the Jetloader for the SP101:

I have a couple of HKS that work well, but I find the Bianchi Speedstrips so much more convenient to actually carry.

The advantage is that you can actually do a "tactical" (I have grown to hate that word, but it applies here) revolver reload with them if you only fire a couple of rounds.
Plus...they carry 6 instead of 5 :D.

I guess if you are playing a speed shooting game, the bulky round style have some advantages.

HKS works for me on my SP101 with hogue monogrip

The HKS hank up on the factory boot grip. They may work fine with a aftermarket grip.

I carry the speed strips now.

Based on your recommendation, I bought one and, yes indeed it does work with my SP-101. I haven't tried it with the factory grips but it certainly works with the Hogues. Thanks for the helpful info.

My HKS works just fine with the factory grip. I have misplaced it though. I carry only one speedloader(usually) and two strips with 6 in each of them.

Yes, I know the HKS loaders work ok with the SP-101. I have two of them and use them.

My question was why Safariland says their speedloader for the 5-shot J-frames doesn't work with the SP-101. The real asnwer is that it does work.
