After hunting and searching I came across a Speed Six with 2.75 inch barrel. I was hesitant at first, it does have some slight rust but now I'm excited to start working on it! On the hunt for a front sight now.
I was looking at used SP101s as well but after talking to a friend on here I decided to take the chance and restore this to its former glory. It's kind of sad seeing it in the shape it's in but I think once it's said and done it's going to be 100% worth it.
I wanted a new carry revolver and just couldn't decide on what I wanted. I knew I wanted 6 shots instead of 5 but would have settled on 5 in the SP101. So why would I take a chance on this Speed Six instead of getting a used SP?
It came down to funds! The site I found this on allowed me to place it on layaway. All the used SPs I found I couldn't do that with. Plus it's a 6 shooter which makes it even better. I'm really hoping the insides are good and it's mechanically sound. Worst case I replace parts as I go. Normally I wouldn't buy a used gun (especially in this kind of shape) without being able to inspect it first, the thing is I don't know if or when I'll come across a Speed Six again and what price it would be. This one is $512 shipped to my ffl and I have 90 days to pay it off. I already have half of it so it should be in my hands in the next few weeks.
So what do you all think? I'll keep you all updated on the restoration process as it goes.
