What would the original model designation be for a Ruger Speed Six in stainless steel, 2.75" barrel? I purchased a nice copy yesterday, it came with a Hogue rubber grip and the serial range is 156-XXXXX Could the grip be original to the revolver? If yes, what would the model designation be/

thanks for all your help....it is great to have access to all the Ruger Guru's in one place!

GS32, assuming it's a .357. Add a "P" if it came with Pachmayr's. I have heard discussion of Hogues being supplied on a few "Sixes", but I have no personal knowledge or experience with them. I also know of no designation that indicates Hogues came on any "Sixes". Only the factory knows for sure, and then, sometimes, they don't even know.

WAYNO.

WAYNO is right.
It would be a GS-82 if it is a 38 Special.

Oddly, the blue version is numbers SS-32.
I would have used "SS" for a stainless version. Go figure.

Here is the GS-32P model for comparison.
