i just received a pm stating "why are we bringing up a topic that has been beat to death in the past"

well ok then, if someone can tell me how to close this thread, will do.

i have not found them locally either. all it took was to put a set in my hand and i was hooked! bought them online.

Trausch grips on two of my three SP-101 .357's. I like'm! The third one is a safe queen; never been shot except at the factory. I bought it because the price was too low to pass up.

You have to order them from him. The owner is very nice and easy to deal with. They're in Europe, so shipping takes a bit longer. I liked the ones I bought for my N-Frame, but they were a bit big, so I shaved them down until it fit my hand.

i have them on ALL my SP's, except the new version of the .22lr. can't replace the new grip style, looks great. i know it's just an insert.

for me, none of SP's are carry pieces. they are for just shootin and the vehicle carry. like i put in the original post, not all of us will like them.

I'd like to see what the Ivory colored version looks like, unfortunately they do not show a pic of that color. Something different always appeals to me. I may order one. 8)

Hey 11B someone here has the "ivory" Trausch grips. They look great. I have black on mine simply because I wasn't aware of the "ivory" grips. They would be nice on one of mine.

Back in the day, I was slotted as a 11B in an Army unit (a Navy E5) on my first Vietnam tour.

When I had a 357 SP it wore Trausch grips BUT ...... they would not have been ideal for carry. Seemed too large and sticky for that.

They are not sticky like other rubber grips at all. They are more plastic than rubber? As for size they are a bit larger which fit my hand well. They are not overly large though. I will try to post a pic of the ivory version for everyone if I get a chance.

Get a few different angles of them in your shots if you can.

Now why would someone go and do a thing like that?... what's wrong with folks lately?

I don't think the topic is a dead subject... it certainly didn't warrant getting your head pealed in a PM.

SHOW ME PIC'S PLEASE!

Interesting this topic came up as I received my set of grips Friday! They look and feel great, but haven't shot the gun yet with them on.

Not sure what the hubbub is about carrying. The grips add, what, a 1/4" or so?? I carried my SP101, 3" all weekend, IWB, 4:00 in cargo shorts and a tshirt. No, it's not as stealth as a 2" w/factory grips, but it's not as obvious as a 4" K frame.

You don't have to order Trausch grips from overseas - there are distributors in the US. I purchased mine from a guy in Missouri - sent him a check on Wednesday, got the grip on Tuesday. Check the wesite for US distributors.

Here you go Infantryman....Ivory Trausch grip on a SP101.

After having these on my SP, here is a somewhat short review.

They are still on it.

I have tried the factory insert grip it's ok, but since I choke up high on my grip, I had to bring the barrel down to line up the sight. plus my middle finger took a beating from the trigger guard.

I switched to the Pachmayr compact. much better, as they filled behind the trigger guard better then the factory. But I still had to bring the barrel down to line up the sights. But they are very filling like a boot grip.

I tried a Houge from a friend, and took them off right away, they didn't feel right for me.

I bought the Trausch, and opted for the ivory as I have my SP polished, and hey whats wrong with a little bling now and then.

I really like the grip. If you shoot a 1911, you will probably like the Trausch. It levels out the barrel for me, so when I'm doing drills, and also live fire, I don't have to bring the barrel down. The sights line up perfectly, every time. I find I don't have to reposition my grip. I grip, unholster, bring up the gun, and sights on target, each and every time.

The grip is deceiving as to it's size. It is about a 1/4" longer then the factory, and 1/4" shorter then the Houge. It is thicker front to back, but it is slim side to side. After carrying with the Pachmayr's for a long time, the Trausch actually makes the SP feel smaller.
The grip has more filling behind the frame, at the top, which makes for a more vertical grip, which is one of the reasons I tried the Pachmayr.
I can get all four fingers around the grip for good control, but I can still pocket carry with this grip.
It is not soft like the Houge, more like the Pachmayr, but without the texture of the Pachmayr, so it doesn't stick.
The only draw back I have found, is the ivory does show the dirt, but it is easy to clean up, But I wouldn't work on your car and then go shooting without scrubbing you hands. I haven't had to clean grease off...yet.

If you do choose to order a set, be aware and look on the order page about older versus newer SP101, as there is a difference in how the grip fits the frame, a newer SP with the older grip, will leave a gap at the grip post frame area

This tread is great! I was looking at these grips on ebay but they went a little high for me. I'll be on the look out again though after reading through this.

Thanks,

This post has been useful to a bunch of folks.

I wish you'd resurrect your opening post, and don't worry about the old women. And you gals, I'm not talking about you. :?

WAYNO.

I'd never seen Trausch in that ivory color but I like it.

Those would look great on a blued gun too.

NO WAY you should close YOUR thread.

People are free to look the other way if they aren't interested but how RUDE to suggest you are beating a dead horse.

Neheee-he-he-he! ....... Pppppppp! (stomp front foot)

I put Trausch Grips on my 2 1/4" DAO and got a bad blister on the web between my thumb and forefinger of my strong hand...Switched to Hogue MonoGrip and no more blister.

As I was not here for the 'beating' this has been an interesting posting. I visit this forum to learn. Never heard of Trauch, now I know. I really like the white grips.
