what speed loader does everyone like for their sp? i've just been carrying a speed strip and sincei started looking none of the speedloaders i've found are labeled for the sp101. mostly hk's. thinking about a push button or whatever i can find that fits and works... chris

The last HK speed loader I bought was poorly made. In other words "piece of junk".
I have a set of speed strips for my sp101.

I use the HKS-36 and the 5 Star J2-36/LCR speed loaders for my Sp101, LCR and S&W model 36 and both brands work really well. I especially like the 5 star with the loading block that holds 30 rounds ready to load into the speed loader.

I have Hogue grips on my SP-101 .357 and both HKS and Safariland's Comp 1 work fine.

To repeat myself in response to others who have had the same question:
I have rubber Hogue grips on my SP .357, and they work perfectly with the Safariland speedloaders. I discarded the HKS ones I had, because they are slower to load, and are tougher to insert in the revolver's cylinder.
Perhaps this should be a "sticky"? The subject comes up fairly often.

well i guess i have to check out the safariland loaders then. yeah was looking at my sp and it looks like the crimson trace would not cause to much trouble, there is clearance.. i wonder if its because the hk's are not made for the sp101? i have hk's for my gp100 and alaskan and they are actually for another make of revolver but they work good enough. a little finicky sometimes (more so with the gp) but they work. i havent found any hk's specified for the sp101 i wonder if that's the trouble, not so much the grip but the pattern of the speed loader.. chris

For a good high quailty speed loader and range blocks check out 5 star speed loads. 5starfirearms.com

My SP101 get at least 90% of the carry time, and speed loaders are just a bit bulky for me to carry. I carry speed strip(s) in my front right shirt pocket. Since I always have two shotshells on me, either loaded up in the #1 and #2 holes (when in the field) or in the speed strip, access to those two rounds are much easier to interchange from a speed strip than they would be from a speed loader.

ok well if they fit right, i'm liking the safarilands. if not, i'll just stick with the strips. i have a 2 1/4" DO in 357 with a crimson trace. i carry it every day over any other gun. i'll be looking for a 3" da/sa in 357 to carry on outdoor trips and deer hunting close to home. i'd rather have the hogues on that one. hopefully it'll work out. i have to say i'm getting funny about packing light on hunting trips. the sp is a joy to carry on the crossdraw and so conveinient when the deer come in too close to swing a long gun in the stand. my DO with the 2 1/4" barrel is just too short to legally hunt with here, also the laser grips are a no no.. but the 3" will be fine. and i need an excuse to buy another gun. .... chris
