SP101 hammer replacement

Just purchased a mint condition 3" SP101 .38spl and want to know how I can go about replacing the hammer. The gun is all stock but the previous owner bobbed the hammer spur to facilitate concealed carry. I would like to put a spurred hammer back in it. Do I send it back to Ruger or can a gunsmith order and replce the hammer?

As I understand it, you can send it back to Ruger and they will do it. It is next to impossible to find hammers,though.

Bought a SP101 hammer from Numrich not to long ago. Easy change out on a SP101, it slips right in without alot of disasembly.

Did the same as Gutshot. Sometimes you have to be patient for one to turn up. Also, found one once with Google from a gunshop across the country. At one time there were parts on Ebay. Usually, they are priced with shipping at about $20 to $25. Sending the gun to Ruger could get pricey with shipping both ways and the price of hammer and swap.
