SP101 Endshake Repair/ Cylinder Disassembly

I have a newer SP101 that has too much endshake. I ordered the shims and disassembled the gun. Then I realized that the cylinder requires disassembly to get the shim in.

I ordered the special tool from Brownells and I know from the IBOK that the cylinder screw is left hand thread and lock-tited. My question is to those who have done this. Just how tight was the screw? Will a standard nut driver break it loose? Will I need to apply heat? Any help appreciated.

Its likely Ruger would fix it for free.

The endshake is 0.0045 and Ruger would probably tell me it's within factory specs. I want it repaired now for better hammerstrike (since it's a 22) and for reduced wear in the future. I understand catching endshake early reduces (slows down) future cylinder wear.

Success! Endshake now about 0.0025 and smooth. Word to the wise - don't try it without the special cylinder tool. Ain't happenin'... :-)
