Just curious.

With the release of the new 8 shot SP101 did the value of my original SP101 in .22 just go up or down?

To people holding out for a shooter...probably
To a collector who realizes the difference in old vs. new...Nope

Heck - I have considered trading one of my old .22 sp101's for the new one. Other then collector value the new one really is a better gun for me.

When it went out of production, it went up for those that are new condition or very close. The new model didn't change that.

In very good condition, for people like me who like the original better, an old model maybe went up. Depends on how many sell the old one to get a new one. If lots of them go for sale, they'll be cheaper.

For those who like the new one, it definitely went down.

FWIW, unless yours is NIB or LNIB, it probably went down.

Well, it's good news either way.

If the value went up, I can't help but be happy. And if it went down, hopefully there will be a bunch of folks dumping theirs cheap and I can pick up another 1 or 2 cheap.

And, the world gets another great new offering from Ruger!

The collectable, new in box guns didn't go down in value, at least not yet but to those who want a gun for field/target use, the original certainly did go down.

My thoughts exactly.

Only time will tell. I believe the reason for the high prices was due to limited availability. Typical supply and demand. Over time the prices became a standard. They are great guns. My father has one and everyone that shoots is normally says its their new favorite gun.

I believe the question is how much better will the new model be. If it shoots like the old one, has several variances in barrel legnth, sights and options.... Then the only reason to pay more for an old one vs a cheaper new one in your prefered setup would be just because you are a collector. Thus the prices would come down to at least the normal used sp101 prices.

If the new one has poor reviews it goes up. Again only time will tell. And of course other variables are present.

I myself dont buy to sell. I hope the price of the old drops so I can have one of both for myself.

From all the reviews I have seen and I will be reviewing the gun tomorrow, what I have heard and seen so far it is a big winner and the old sp101 most likely unless NIB will be going down quite a bit in value.
